seat covers
I'm looking to replace the seat covers on my 74. I was thinking of doing the work myself but am unsure of the difficulty. Has anyone replace your seat covers? Was it difficult? Are there any other tools required besides hog-ring pliers?
I would appreciate any recommendations as to where to buy the covers.
Thanks in advance for your help.

RE: seat covers
It's not too tough if you take your time. The only other tool I'd recommend is the one used to pull the little hook wires thru the foam like this one. http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...p;dept_id=1100 Well worth the price cuz I've used needlenose pliers and that's just not fun. [:'(]
Probably want to put new foams in while you're in the neighborhood.
Al Knoch, Ecklers, MidAmerica Motorworks are a few suppliers.

Well i know where you are coming from Orangevette I am currently in the process of redoing my seats 75% done. I bought the Seat covers and foam (deffinately recommend) from http://www.alknochinteriors.com/they have great products and amazing service. I would also recommend the tool 73shark syggested i used a cut and bent metal coat hanger but that tool will help out.

Hey, 1974corvetteowner, you say you are 75% done. How long has it taken you so far? With the summer coming I hate to have my vette out of service for a long period of time.
And thank you, both you and 73shark, for the seat cover info.

RE: seat covers
Well I am in college and not home a lot and i have been slowly working on them. I would have to guess that i have put about 10-12 hours worth of work into the seats including taking them out, taking off the old covers, bead blasting the frames, welding minor cracks, repainting, and actually putting the covers on the foam and attaching it to the frames. If you got all the materials and tools you might be able to get it all done in a weekend.
