HI phill, there are few procedures listed in the HAYNES Book, none referance the shifter boot, tell me is it auto or 4 speed and I'll try to pin it down for you. PG.

hi pg. its an automatic. i sat at work all afternoon looking through the service manual and couldnt find anything either. it almost looks like it should either twist off or pull off.

Hi Phill, on page 83 of Ecklers catalog is a picture of a shifter , to get the black ball off just unscrew the chrome button, is that what you were asking?PG>

hey pg. yeah thats what i wanted to know. my problem is the black ball wont come off. i looked in the assembly manual and saw a picture of it with a double thread i would guess one is for the button and one is for the ball. ive tried to unscrew it and pull it off but it wont budge. i sprayed some penetrating oil on it last night im going to give it another try tonight. thanks for the help and ill keep you all posted.

Hi Phill, glad to hear your making progress. I just wanted to tell you there are two boots in there, the bottom boot will stop a lot of unwanted heat from entering your car. "Might as well" change that to since your in there.PG.
