Default shocks choice

Hi there,

Yesterday I got a temporary insurance ( 45 days expiring) to drive my Vette while waiting for italian ID plates.
30min drive , just to understand a couple of things : I need to to know better my car before driving faster.

I think my car has still the old rear shocks ( they are black painted) . Front shocks are Monroe ( quite old anyway)
I know that I have to replace everything , but I can't do everything at the same time...
But I need anyway to drive safe ....
The car is stable , but probably the idea that something may go wrong, makes me not so quiet.

I'm keeping now the rear leaf spring ( I have to rebalance the 2 sides) , but I'll possibly go for a composite spring later. but now I want to fit a pair of rear shocks that will work satisfactorily with both types of rear springs. So , which shocks? gas type anyway? Or Oil type may work?.The problem is that gas shock can't be shipped via air to Italy...so their delivery time may be too long

I expect to drive my Vette on not large roads but full of turns , up-down , odd lateral slope ( opposite to parabolic)...speed on these roads : 50-60mph.So I need the car to be stable and not rolling

thanks for any advise about shocks to buy
Aldo
