Default Need Help w/ Exhaust choice ?

I have a stock 2004 C5 coupe auto. Looking for quiet inside and deep performance sound when you step on the gas. so far torn between Magnaflow and Borla cat back system w/ Xpipe. Thank you for any advise members can give me. D327 new member

I have the Borla on my 2002 Z06 and love it! Deep/throaty sound and you will get noticed at WOT. I also have LG Longtube headers, no cats and x-pipe, so with just the cat back and/or x-pipe it would be, I would think a little more quiet, but still sound great when you get on it. I hope to have a movie clip in the next couple weeks of what mine sounds like, but you would be happy with the Borla.

i would go with the borla system. i have it on my 98 coupe and i love the sound at idle and wide open. I can creep through my neighborhood and not wake a soul or i can drop the hammer and turn heads like you wouldnt believe.

I guess that depends upon your gearing and cruise speed. If you cruise at about 1600 rpms, there is a drone. It doesn't bother me, personally but some find it irritating. It's certainly not loud enough to prevent a conversation between two people. Driving a vert with the top down on the highway would be worse, IMO. Do you know any C5/Borla owner who lives nearby? Maybe a local Corvette Club member can let you experience the "sound", first-hand.

Another option is remote-operated cutouts - bypass the mufflers when you feel like enjoying a Nascar-like experience and stock-quiet when you go on a trip.

I searched high and low to find the perfect sound. It is the Borla Quad Stinger. It is absolutely music when you step on it and it sounds demonic at idle. I have it on a 2002 Z06. I have a Billy Boat system on a 2000 Convertible. It has the most god awful droan to it. Sounds good when you run hard but if it was not a drop top, it would be unbearable.

Hey, D327 -
Sorry, I didn't reply to your last email. I hit the delete key too fast. But as I told you,
I have the Borla Dual 7.5" pipes and love them. Deep and throaty and they absolutely growl when you turn the key. I think they look real hot, too, but then, maybe that is just the female perspective.
Good luck with your decision.

I just finished installing a set of Bassani headers and mufflers on an 02 LS1 for a customer, along with a clutch (Ouch), and the Bassani system sounds magnifico!! The clutch sure was a pain, though! LOL!![8D]
