They'd tell him to put it all together and check, just like they did my friend Ty. I haven't seen as much as some guys, but for Chevys, rarely haveI seen a street application with stock heads that needed longer push-rods. Given, I've never used the comp cams roller rockers. Only time I've seen it is with those Chinese Aluminum pro-comp heads, where the valves they use are .100" longer than stock (why?).

I'm in the middle of this fight too so I will be checkin' my length also I'll let ya know!

Hi 73shark, thanks for reminding me about the light checking springs, I'll order a couple when I get the length checker, I appreciate the input. Texas Jim, I'll probably end up calling Comp again to get more info, like you said, they should be able to tell me what to look for and I'm sure they'll tell me to put it all together and then check the geometry. Thank you, Bob

I figured this might be of interest to our members so I'm passing on some info that can come in handy when you get deep into motor massaging. I called Comp Cams and talked to tech support, they figured I'll need push rods that will be very close to the stock length but with the possibility of needing a slightly longer one. Their reasoning was based on the fact that I'm using a cam with a reduced base circle in order to have the necessary clearance for the stroker components. So I'll order a length checker that will measure from 7.80 - 8.80 in. and a pair of mock-up valve springs. Once I achieve the correct rocker geometry all I have to do is read the length of the tool and order push rods of that length.
