Starting problems
I have an 81 and i'm having problem with my Distributor on starting. When it won't start, I have to loosen the Dist Cap and flick the rotor two or three times and then I may have to repeat this step two or three times before it fires off. But, when it fires off its instantly. Then, when I'm driving it, it may die and I have to repeat the flicking of the rotor. The plugs, wires, cap, coil, and rotor are all new. My Mechanic has no idea, any of you guys got any thoughts? Thanks

Sure sounds like an electrical problem.
Check your ground connections, the the flat braded copper wires that are bolted to the firewall and frame.
Also check your negative battery cable where it bolts to the frame.
Also check any ground wires to and from the distributor.
Good luck,

Just thinking, if you try what I suggested and you still have the same problem I would buy a new electronic distributor like the one you see on ebay for $100 and that should do it.
I have one of those in my 74 for the past 5 years and works fine.
