Value on 1969 Convertible
I need some information on the value for a 1969 convertible. It is a late 69 (Sept) with 65,000 miles on it. The body is in excellent shape and newly painted although not a 69 color. It has the Corvette 70's fender flares (front and rear) that were added to it at some point. The hood is from a 1974 (wiper door removed but still has it and all parts). The engine is a 1970 350/350 in good shape as well as all the mechanicals. The interior is all new. It also has a luggage rack on it and a new convertible top. While not "stock", it is a very presentable car that down the road could be restored to original (other than the engine).
What would be a fair price range for this as is? Thanks

RE: Value on 1969 Convertible
Hi bdeal, welcome to the forum, I looked into my crystal ball to try to come up with a value for your prospective purchase. You say it's a 69 convert, thats great, originally converts cost less, today a convert cost more. You said it's repainted but not an original color, so what? Do you like the color? You must or you would not be interested from the get go. Are the fener flares done well? If so it'll save you from some paint chips, ( but evenyually you'll get some). A 350/350 is plenty fast, you'll enjoy that. ( Plenty of power there ). There is a lot said about matching numbers but since yours is not an original Big Block you'll be okay with a replaced 350, If you ever decide to sell your car you'll still find plenty of buyers. In my opinion on the Barret- Jackson people belong in the more money than brains club. You say yhe hood was replaced, thats great, there were and still are problems with that wiper door, I never take my car out if rain is predicted but you can get caught in a shower, I have twice, and it's nice to no that the wipers will work if you need them. The interior is redone, thats a big plus, ( leather seats, insulation, & padding ) thats worth about 2 grand. You should have fiber oyptics on your car, a great gadget, but more to maintaine. A luggage rack? If you like more stuff to polish, why not, since it's on there already, that cool. It's just harder to polish under it. Just remember, your buying America"s first and only sports car! The C-3 is just the most fun you can have in the best American Best Sports Car!( Sorry you viper fans, you guy's buy the car, burn it out, and get half your money back in two years ) So theres my 2 cents worth, Buy the car and join the most excusive car club in America, you don't no how much fun you'll have untill you own a C-3. In the condition that you are describing, I would not pay more than $12,500.00. If the suspension and the rest of the drivetrain are worn you will invest some serious bucks to bring everything up to a safe dependable vehicle. Never short yourself on the suspension, brakes and tires. Those are the three things that will cause you to lose your investment.
