Default Valve Cover Restoration

I'm looking to get a couple valve covers restored for my 74. Any ideas or good resources? Has anybody had any luck with sand blasting and a clear powder coat?

thanks,

Brian

Sandblasting will be way too aggressive! Maybe soda blasting? If they were mine,I would probably use some stripper to remove the old clear coat and polish 'em up on my rag wheel and put 'em on like that. Clear coat will dull the surface and give a satin look. Once they're polished a quick touch up with any metal polish will keep 'em that way.

Thanks Ron, I'll give this a try over the weekend.

The guy that did mine blasted them w/ something that left a dull finish and then started polishing them on a wheel. When he got done, they were as shiny as chrome and partsman41 said, periodic metal polish will keep them that way. There a product called Sharkhide that is a good clearcoat and is almost undetectable and will prevent oxidation. Used on aluminum boats and Airstream trailers.
