Where does your Negative battery cable connect?

Negative is pretty short, just runs from the battery to the nearest frame cross-member, if I remember right it's next to the differential. Then up front you should have a similar cable from the engine to the frame.

Ok, I got the charging system FIXED! Thanks for all your help you guys! There's a new O'Reily's parts store in town, and they sold me 15' of red 8 ga wire, I fished that through the frame right next to the bad wire and ran it through the factory hole in the battery box. Then I clipped the ends of the bad alternator wire where it enters and exits the frame, so no one is the wiser! Since I am currently takin' my car apart to change the heads and cam, I cobbled enough of it together to get it to "run" and even though it was coughin' and sputterin, I got 14 v on the gauge and NO idiot light on!

I got some pics of the stuff I'm doin' can I post those in a thread or should I put them in my profile, they are small in file size

Thanks again for everyone's input!
