I think you can get the spare tire delete package at Ecklers or MidAmerica. Not positive. The spare tire doesn't absorb much of the impact from a rear end crash. It normally just shoves the tire forward, ruining the carrier anyway. It can also snap the bolt the carrier hangs on.

Do you carry your spare around.
Yes. You should unless your going to use run flat tires and they aren't that good of a tire.

I am going to remove teh spare tire and the actual carrier. I know theres something to replace it but seems pointless. I am going to clean it up and paint all the parts underneath there to really give it a shine. I know the tank is lined so that helps in a rearend crash but I *heard* that the spare tire takes the impact. True or false? Im going to keep searching but its not very helpful going thru google.
I got mine down right now, only cause I gotta' find out if a missing bushing is causing a light knock sound out back.

Interestingly, two people have asked about rear end ride height bein' high, after seein' some of the car pics in the gallery here. I say it's cause the driveway is downhill, not cause the less weight...

That spare tire and carrier doesn't have enough weight to affect the ride height.
