More power, is a relitive question. How much more, will determine how much more you need to do.
Acouple of hundred, will require a lot of changes. 50 more, will require a lot less. I don't mean to be vague, just need more info. Where is your Vette lacking, as far as power? It's kind of a balancing act of HP and Torque. You want to fry the tires off the rims, commin' out of the hole, or a tall top end?

Edlebrach has some great package set ups. You can talk with one of their techs, and they will tell you what package will do what. Basicly, ya have to get the fuel in, burn it,and get it out at the rate that your cubes and comp will handle best. I don't see any reason why ya can't get that extra 60 HP your lookin' for, and not have to sell your little brother to do it.

 

K&N air filter gets you 10hp and the ECM chip is another 15hp, thats 315hp

Your heads are prob just fine, porting and polishing will do wonders.The kits can include items such as carb, intake, cams, rockers, and lifters. Seach their site, you may be surprised as to what's available.

Porting and polishing is to increase air flow efficiancy. Same idea as tuned intake and headers. Yes, you can get more horses by what is also called "port and relieve". ( removing excess "meat", as you put it ) Can't give ya an actual HP number though. Porting will includetrimming the intake and exhaust gaskets to prevent any blockage of air flow. Getting the fuel/air in and the exhaust out, at the greatest efficiancy, is the whole idea.
You can get aftermarket heads, but if you port and releive, and polish the new heads, you'll reap even greater bennefits.But if you're goin' for aftermarket heads, you'll want to go with bigger valves and better all around air flow, or you're just blowin' bucks as far as I'm concerned.
Of course a major factor is cost. If ya got the bucks, I'd reccomend pulling the engine and doing a complete re-vamping of the the entire engine. If ya built the top and not the bottom, you can blow the bottom out. Of course, that depends on the wear/miles on the entire engine. I wouldn't do it half way. Personally, I'd do the whole engine. I don't do crates, I like to "know" what, and how it's done.
Aluminum heads? Less weight and some bennefit in heat dispersion. I don't use them due to the fact that alum is softer and you can strip threads if you're no carefull. Just a personal thing with me, others like the alum heads. And yes, you can have them ported and relieved too.
I'm not up to speed on fuel injection systems, so I can't help ya there. I'm an "old school" carb guy.
Basicly, intake, headers, fuel supply, and ingition is where I feel that you will get some additional HP. If ya start camming, you're lookin' at a "whole new ball of wax", so to speak.
