Just bought 18 inch 10.5 wide rear wheels (C6 style) and 17 inch 9.5 inch front.

All I read over years and years is that I will need adapters for my 1985. Well the front 17 inch 9.5 have a 56mm off set and bolt on great up front - no tires on yet but TONs of room everywhere.

!!! where is there supposed to be a clearance issue??

And... I have "mounted up" the bare 18 10.5inch rears with 58mm offset, and PHEW, they are close to dog legs fully extended (jacking side of car) and close to rear sway bar. I guess I could put a wheel adapter just to aid more clearance, but who else is running this size??

Also, What size tires so everything clears good.... I know there is got to be a tech page on what fits and what dont. I was thinking about a 265 40r17 for the front and some ....... 265 35r18 for the rear.

 

Just FYI, I have some factory wheels off a 2007 that I am planning on putting on my 86 model. I have not installed them yet, several other projects to do first but I have checked into the clearance issue. What I have found, mainly on this forum, is that the front wheels are fine as is and the rears need a 3/4 inch spacer. Good Luck!
