84 barely runs after cam and heads
Sorry for the wait, didn't get the notification through my email.
Anyway, finished cleaning up my melted mess of sheathing. seemed the only damage was to the O2 sensor wire. The replacement connector and sensor came today, just installed them both along with a new MAP sensor since last time it ran it threw a code 33, but the shop manual says that could have been from the low idle. Figured I'd play it safe. No change in how it runs with any of the new parts. It does idle, but very shaky. There's also a new tapping noise, which sounds more like an exhaust leak than it does in the video I took, at least I hope it's just an exhaust leak. Not sure why the video is so shaky either, sorry about that.
84s don't have MAF sensors, but they do have a MAP sensor mounted to the firewall with a vacuum line going to the left throttle body. Tried the trick you mentioned with disconnecting the hose, plugging it at the TB and sucking on it to create vacuum while starting it, but that didn't seem to make a difference either. Code 33 is still there too, but that's likely caused by the awful idle
