Welcome into the forums there, cole...

Fluid is level, I guess?

Does it slip only in O/D?

Thank you.
Well I just got it - after looking under hood - I can find everything EXCEPT the dipstick for trans. and yes the OD has a mind of its own - it will pop in and out while in any gear -and with that.. it sounds like it's slipping or the clutch is hurting- I was just wondering if anyone had some suggestions prior to me taking it to a dealership......

OD pops in and out? In ANY gear???

Need a little more detail there, cole...

I highly suggestNO dealer visits just yet. They LOVE to go fishin' for work.

There's a ton of problems thatmight be attributed to bad electrical grounds.

Sure!

I don't think temps are related to the tranny problem, although it's always possible. (3/4 O/D means3/4 turn tranny input shaft, 1 whole turn output shaft).

Your tranny's synchronizers might be shot. Not gonna' be cheap to repair either. Don't do anything until you're sure what you've got tho'. Wait for some others here to offer more diagnostic tests first...

It might also be a clutch gig, or throwout (clutch disengagement) bearing. How does the clutch pedal feel? Just a little play before resistance? Does the car pull at all before you let the pedal up to engage the gear?

If you got zero problems with 1st or 2nd, your clutch and T/O bearing is probably good.

Synchros might run $425 - $575, if you pull your own tranny. It ain' that hard, you need only workin' space. If they pull the tranny, it might cost $900 - $1100, and the dealer much more.

I highly suggest you find out exactly what is wrong first. Someone here might be able to pin it down, or you might have to see a local - NOT aamco or the dealer. Try to find a fossil runnin' his own place, who's very busy.

There are several things that can cause a manual transmission to jump out of gear, loose transmission bolts, worn gears, worn synchronizer, worn shift fork, all of these can cause one to jump out of gear.
