Default 89 longer cranking

In the last few days my 89 with L98 and 88,000 miles needs more cranking time before start than usual. It always started with just a couple of engine revolutions but now it needs longer cranking time before the engine starts.Engine cold, engine hot same thing. Other than that the engine and the car run great. There is no SES light nor code displayed. I saw this problem posted before and I'm just wondering if anyone found the right cure for it. Thanks in advance.

I concur. Check fuel pressure, too.

Injectors and fuel filter have been replaced recently. I'll check the the fuel pressure. Thank you for the hints. I'll let you know.

Your car has a redundant voltage supply to the fuel pump. It has a fuel pump relay and an oil pressure/fuel pump switch that is under the distributor. More than likely the main relay is bad and the oil pressure has to build to engage the pressure supply switch, hence the extended crank times. Check your power supply to the pump and the fuel tank and see if you have lagging voltage to the pump.

Thank you guys for helping out. Your knowledge is a great value, thank you for sharing it. Mech259 is a real pleasure see you back on the forum. I hope your recovery is going well.
I'll check the relay first and the pump power supply. I'll let you know. For now thanks a lot.

If the fuel pump and relay check out ok, take a look at a ruptured fuel press regulator. That was my source of long engine cranking to start. I found it when I pulled the vacuum line from the regulator and fuel came out. Not supposed to do that.
