Saaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy... Is that an Eckler's bar code sticker I see there???
Those look very similar if not identical to the rims on my '90. I just put on Ceramic Brake Pads on front
and scrubbed wheels with brush. Hopefully this will take care of the unsightly dirt on rims and squeaking.

Thank you guys for the nice comments. I put the tires on today and they sure look good or at least I like them. After all the hours of labor I can only like them! I wanted to keep the stock wheels but at the same time have something different. Years of employment with a wheel manufacturing company sure did help.
I washed the wheels very good inside and out, I stripped the clear coat off and clean any little left over paint off. I did paint the inside of the wheel face and inside the center cap area. I sand paper the polished area and the outside edge to smooth the surface, take off the machined lines and eliminate the paint over spray. I wet sand all the way to 2000 paper.
Than I masked the polished area and painted the outside edge. Took the masking off and polish the face with Mothers several times. After I was happy with the shine I clear coat the all wheel. For the center caps I took the C4 emblems off. Stripped the paint off, smooth the surface with sand paper, paint and clear coat. While the paint on the center caps was curing I paint the C4 emblems with white paint for plastic so they show on a dark background. That's how the process went. I did remove the tires off the rims to be able to paint freely, remove the ugly old style hammered in balance weights. I took thewheels back to be mount, balanced with internal weights and install new valves. It's a great winter project but since in Hawaii we don't have winter I decided todo it now.
Good luck if you decide to restore your rims and yes it's totally worth it!

Job well done! Most certainly an improvement from start to finish. Thanks for sharing your method with us. My 90's are looking pretty bad. Looking for a new set but if can't find, I know there is hope for the ones I have. j
