Default 93 ?

Hi, guys and gals I have been reading the forms for 2-3 days now and just joinedthere seems to be alot of helpfull people here. I'm looking at a 93 and I know nothing about vettes I was wondering what are some of the things I should look for what are some questions I should ask. It has 90,000 mi and he's asking 7000 for it. Is the 93 a good year? How do you know if the optispark needs replacing?I plan on driving the car alot about 7000 mi a year. Thanks for any help.

That's a pretty good price. By replaceing Optispark, I'm assuming you mean the cap and rotor, which I wouldn't worry about unless the car runs bad. LT1 or 4 are both good engines. Test drive and check transmission shifting and braking for warped rotors. I would check things like power windows, door locks, a/c and heater controls for proper operation. Check condition of transmission fluid, smell of fluid (to see if it is burnt). Good Luck.[8D]

I have a 92 and a 93-both are excellent cars. 93 is my daily driver (in season). Only problem with either car has been operation of heater/AC controls, from corrosion on wire connectors on the 92and a stuck vent door on the 93. Neither problem was serious, just took a little time to correct. Sound like a hell of a good price-paid more than that for both of mine, but they both had less than 55k on the odo. Good Luck!

Wife and I bought a 93 40th Anniversary with 51000 on it two years ago. I didn't know too much aboutVettes either but learned lots since. Found out the horns didn't work (replaced both), the seats wouldn't adjust unless we took all our weight off them (gears worn out), passenger side power window wouldn't work (contact cleaner on control toggle fixed that) and the lumbar supports wouldn't work. Other than that, it was in really good shape and we are very happy with it. Is the one you're looking at a 40th? Beautiful color. We paid $16000 for ours,SIDENOTE: Hey Mech 259, as far as the lumbarsupports, I have power to the pump motors but no air. Diaphrams blown, maybe? Can they bereplaced without buying the whole unit? Itlooks like the seatshave to come out butI'm hoping they don't. Waitingfor a reply. THANKS.

If the pump is running and no pressure, either the pump is bad or the vent is stuck open for the support. Could also be the bags as you said.[8D]
