Default 93 air conditioning

Hi, my 93 corvette has some air conditioning problems. The air used to work all the time and then early this year it pumped out warm air and the auto light would blink. I took it to my regular shop and they could not really figure out what was the problem. But when they unplugged the battery to the car, the ac would work again. So then it worked again for a day or so, but like the other time, the auto light started to blink and it pumped out warm air. Unplugging the battery is a temporary fix but it only lasts for about a day. If anybody else has heard of this problem with the 93 year, it would be awesome for some input.
Thanks, Will

Will... It sounds like you have the auto air unit which has cods for the auto head unit. one code is #9 which is low freon. This is the only code that is remembered by the head unit and can be reset by removing the neg battery cable. My best guess is low freon probably a leak.

the weird thing is that the freon level is fine and is not even close to being low. So what seems to be the problem is the sensor detecting the freon level is not working because when I unplugged the neg cable, the ac would work for about 30 minutes and then it would shut off. Do u have an idea on what kind of part is needed for the sensor of freon or something?

Will...If you have the automatic air control (c68) control head. you will need to pull the codes. push and hold the fan up and fan down arrows at the same time for about 5 seconds. the LCD on the control head will show -00. next push "Auto Fan" and the LCD will show any fault codes stored in the programmer. To exit diagnosis change to a different electronic air condition system mode. The blinking light you have says there is a code.
Hope this helps this system is very hard to explain.

You can have plenty of juice in the lines, and if the orifice tube filter tube is clogged, no flow, no A/C.

The low pressure switch will read low pressure, and shutdown the compressor....

If the cycling switch on the accumualtor is bad, the programmer thinks it is low on freon.
