Default Auto tranny for 94 basic stuck in drive.

All going well then the 94 basic developed a sloppy gear selector and now the shifter is loose and I can’t shift out of drive. Could it be the cable linkage between the tranny and shifter? Need guidance help.

That looks like a good place to start. Transmission is an easy place to start, the linkage or cable is loose. If all's good there it has to be in the console, is my guess.

Default Got it!!

Got underneath the c4. Found both bolts were out of the brace that attaches to the tranny pan. It holds the rod in place. Went to local Chevy dealer had to order 10 tranny pan bolts. That’s okay though.

I use a floor jack and jack stands. I've seen too many videos of cars on a floor jack that wound up on the owner when they didn't use jack stands.

I use a four post lift that I bought ten years ago. 8K rating great for pickups and cars, a real back saver, best 3K I ever spent. Rarely use a creeper anymore. You need an RV bay at your house to use one there. When working on the floor, buy a good floor jack and jack stands.

Default Done deal, good fix

Been working on the vette with my grandson. We drove the car up on ramps, blocked the rear wheels. I explained how to set the bolt then use a 1/2” rachet to tighten. Used locktight to make sure they don’t come loose again. He came out with a huge grin on his face. “Grandpa, I fixed it. This is the first car I have ever fixed!” Got in and ran through the gears, bingo!! He was jumping for joy. Makes it all worthwhile. Thanks for your help!!
