Hello all. I am in the middle of an interesting challenge. Long story but, I have a 1987 C4 convertible that I acquired which had a spun rod bearing. Unfortunately, the previous person working on the car had stripped it down to just the block. Luckily, it appears I have all of the parts. I have already pulled the engine, rebuilt it and have it back in the car. The majority of the top end (it is a TPI), is now back in place. The challenge now is figuring out all of the routing and connections for the hoses, vacuum lines, and wiring. While the FSM is helpful, there are some items that have me scratching my head. This is one of them.
The negative battery cable goes down on the driver's side and I am pretty sure it connects to the engine block that I THINK is G104. What is confusing me is there are two connections on this wire. One at the very end of the wire - which I assume is the connection point for the block. However, there is also a bracket on the wire that I cannot figure out what/where it attaches to. I assume the bracket is to ensure the cable stays away from the exhaust headers??? I attached pictures of the cable and bracket. Does anyone have any idea on where it attaches to? Any help appreciated. Guessing I will have more questions as I work my way through the puzzle of vacuum lines... bracket approx 18" from cable end cable end - attach to block bracket approx 18" from cable end
