Best Year Model For Smooth Ride???
Greetings...first post,
So what year and model of C4 Corvette had the best quality of ride and can you please recommend a source for the springs? I know some had the "adaptive ride control" and since I do not know how to integrate the computer that model is a non-option.
The car in question is a 1955 Chevy that has a Newman Car Creations chassis under it. The chassis has 1996 Corvette front and back suspension (actually right now it has all of the suspension parts but no springs...and I would like to ultimately find springs that have a smooth-ish ride.
I do not race the car and just use it to go cruising and of course I like to smash the throttle to the floor (1999 LS-1 and 4L60E) I appreciate the rack and pinion steering, 4 wheel disc brakes, and roll control of the sway bars.
I just would like a smooth-er riding car with some decent handling qualities...the road here in Arizona are pretty good.
So I would greatly appreciate your advice!!!
THANKS!!!

I have a '96 Corvette with the stock springs and shocks, it rides beautifully on our smooth Florida roads. It is a great cruiser. Since you already have a stock suspension, just put the stock springs in and enjoy your ride.
Powerplay numero dos.
THANKS for your reply.
I had been running the Corvette OEM springs (not soft ride) back when we lived in middle of the Kalifornia Republic of Asinine People where the roads were HORRIBLE...so bad the people in Michigan are glad their roads are better that the KRAP roads. We have since moved to the United States of America to the free state of Arizona.
At that time I did a DIY and replaced the transverse springs with coil overs and the modification utilized the OEM Corvette front upper shock mount and after just a couple of drives that sheet metal mount started bending upward so the front springs will not work unless I do some modifications to the mount. I am curious to see what the coil over prefab kits use for the upper shock mount.
Same with the rear...the coil overs would scratch on the quarter shafts under compression so I would need to relocate the top shock mount.
At this point I should just go back to the transverse springs but choose the smooth ride option this time

My car came with the soft suspension so I enjoy the soft ride. I am not taking it to the track or pushing it to the limits. However, it is a driver and I enjoy cruising in it to shows, meets and just for a drive.
