My brother and I have had a Blue 74' 454, a white 94' LT1, Black 93' LT1, and now I have a Black 86' L98, and I must say for some reason I like the mid 80's sports cars WAY better. The way they handle the feel, and everything about them. I have a 1985 Porsche 951, and a 1986 vette, and both are so so so much fun. The L98 is easy to fix and stuff isnt so expensive and you can do most everything your self!!!! And guys that have the newer cars are always surprised when a 20 year old vette can still keep up, at half the price.

Black86Vette, I fully agree with your thread. I thought Mech259 would have put a post here.

In my book, each has it's advantages and disadvantages. Strictly speaking from a techinician point of view, the LT1 is the easiest to work on and requires less add ons to make more horsepower. The L98 has inherent restrictions in the induction system since it was designed for low end torque and just flattens out around 5500 rpm's. The LT4 is a royal PITA to work on, but is is a top end screamer. I have an L98 because that was what available at the time in my price range LOL. [8D]

Hello,my friend. You know,it really all depends on what gets your blood going.I,for one, will be a C4 man till I'm dead. The newer ones, well, yes, they're better in almost every way, although not in looks in my opinion, but the C4 is a very significant car.If it wasn't for its absolute success I don't think we'd have the C5 or C6.My 96 is my absolute dream car.No problems,a blast to drive EVERY day, well,I think you get the picture. An LT4 with low miles?????Holy cow!!What are you waitin' for? GRAB IT!! I promise you,my friend, you will not regret it.Good luck and God Bless.

Greetings fotoman....Welcome to the Forum....

I went through the same thing 6 months ago. I was looking for a black, stick, convertible....After looking at many, many cars I found ours...A black 1990 convertible.

The car is great! Any 'vette is great! Just do it!

And wave!!

Initially I went down to C'nV Corvettes here in Phx to look at a nice red C4 coupe.
For the life of me .. I can not fold myself up enough to fit into one ..the frame rail right at the doorsill along with the whole entry area requires someone more flexible than I have become.

So ..wife and I looked ata black C5 coupe they had .. opinions vary, but to me the C5 just looks like it's painted on the roadway, .. it is *so* low, so aerodynamic looking, it looks like its goin 200mph just sittin there. The tires look huge because the car is so small .. and .. er .. the tires *are* huge.

What you need to do is go drive 'em .. see which one suits you best.. they all have their own personalities

I feel like I stole Batman's car
