Hi!!! How about a cold air kit for starters?A throttle body airfoil, perhaps?Keep it well tuned and running like a Vette should? How much are you willing to spend?Maybe you can alter the heads, tranny, get better gears, there's so much you can do,IF,you're willing to spend money. You might not get 300hp unless you really get inside the L-98,but you might come close, especially torque-wise;the L-98 is renowned for its low-end torque.Let me know what you do,ok?Good luck!! Joe

Four words , Air in air out, If you make it breath better you make it go better . My plans this winter is to remove the intake and do some port matching and some smoothing of the intake runners along with a K&N filter . I have to replace valve seals also, so all depending on if I remove the heads I may do some mild porting . I have used in the past , roller tip rockers in the 1.6 ratio (stock is 1.5 ) this is not a big difference but every bit helps and I don't plan on doing a cam yet . I will probably do somthing to the cat also to free up the exaust . If I can find a stage one chip to install ., all this should gain me a few freed ponies. Most of the mods I do to my cars are cheap upgrades that do help and can be poven on the chassis dyno .

I also am going to remove the water lines to the throttle body as I don't drive the car in winter ( cold air is better) anyone else try this yet?

There are the 'free' mods like cutting the filter lid and TB cooland bypass, adds up toa max of 5 hp or so.

The biggest restriction on that car is the exhaust. Get a full catback, replaces the cats with a nice free-flowing one, and you will get impressive SOTP results. Add headers and you might gain as much as 50hp. Roller rockers can get you another 20 possibly.A good porting job on the intake will help too. Only after that would i think about a cam upgrade. After that, the intake will be the limiting factor in gaining hp. Modify or replace the intake, then spend the big bucks on heads.

Free mods, full exhaust, and RR will probably get you into the high 200s, but i dont think 300 is possible without intake upgrade and heads/cam. You'll get close. But you wont need a ECM tune with those mods but i will help squeeze out a couple extra ponies. Come up with a long term mod plan, that way you buy the mods that will fit together with the whole package.
