C4 Shopping
Good evening all,
Preface: In my heart, I'm really a C3 lover. Those are the Corvettes I grew up seeing on the road, and I think the ones we grow up seeing are likely to be the most influential to us, aren't they? But it seems to me that if I want a reasonably affordable driver that I can enjoy with my wife, I might want to focus more on C4s, which are my second love.
While I have a strong aesthetic preference for 1974-1977 C3s, I don't have any such preferences for C4s. However, I do like the LT1 and LT4 engines and management better than the L98 engines and management and definitely want to avoid crossfire injection. So, I am mostly shopping for 1992-1996 Corvettes, preferably 6-speed.
I don't have the money for a $10-15k top specimen, and to be honest, I don't want one because I want to be able to use it without fearfully counting every mile and thinking about its effect on the value of the car. So, some wear, mileage, and/or blemishes are to be expected. Still, it seems that respectable cars can be had from $5-7k, so that is the budget range for me.
Am I on a wise course for choosing LT1 cars? What do I need to be looking out for? Where does rust come up on C4s?

Just threw it out there doubting anyone would be interested.
my 05 is just a driver, bought it this year from a guy in the hamptons, the car was supposedly built by a shop in SC, runs like raped ape and stops on a dime qith the brembo big brake upgrade, hurst short throw shifter and who knows what else.
i added adjustable trailing arms and adjustable toe rods (tie rod ends were dry).
The old owner put a jack on the wrong spot and kinked the floor board but other than that she's all good, apparently whoever built it thought this was going to be an absolute killer so they added zo6 badging......go figure!
anyhow, paid 8500, less than 80k miles.
Pm me your contact if interested, come spring if my back hasn't healed, i'll let it go.
(cheap, fast and fun toy to play with)
Cheers
