Default car dies

Problem: 1988 c4 conv, 82,000 orginal miles, just installed with in the last month, new alternator, battery, cap&wires and coil accel. tooling along usually before the car reaches operating temp when the Car just dies, happened 3 or 4 times. when you crank it back up after one of these events it sometimes will start right up and other times it pops a bit and dieds. the last couple of times its done this but finally cranks and its good to go until the next event. I think maybe the fuel pump is going bad anyone else have a thought? Any help appreciated

Hey Ralphie, check out this thread, you seem to have similar symptoms.

POP? Like the old carbeureted motors used to do? Sounds like a timing gig, but electronic controlled timing don't do that...

How does it idle, after completely warmed up, and in park?

yup, sounds real familiar to that thread. I still haven't figured that out. I can't get it to do it again. Kinda makes me wary of drivin' it.

Don't give up, the answer will come. Cheers

The turn has nothing to do with fuel. If the G's pull fuel away from the pump, the regulator will keep fuel from returnin' to the tank, and the fuel in the line will keep you firin' till the fuel gets back to the pump.

Any other clues there, RT???

problem solved. I changed the pump and thought I had it fixed but as soon as it started raining again it started acting up again. I finally figured out that when I changed the coil to an accel unit it sat up so high off the distributor cap that I could not put the TPI rear cover back on so I left it off, well it seems that everytime it rains water splashes on the coil on a turn or shortly after a turn and shorts out the coil. I put a plastic bag over it and it has not died on me since. damn vettes I love them but they can really give you the kind of trouble only Zora and God understand.
