Default Catalytic Converter Question

So i am still waiting on my car to return from the shop. They are already a week behind schedule and they are now saying it probably wont be done until next week. If you are wondering what i am having done, check my post titled "Car Work" for a reference. Anyway, to the question. I am having Hooker Shuper Comp. Shorty headers put on my LT1 and im not having a cat-back installed. I am just having them delete the cat, basically. They are taking the cat. off and gutting it and then just running two pipes straight through where the cat. goes and then reinstalling the catalytic converter to make it look like it is still there so that i can pass inspection.

Here is my question. Has ANYONE ever had that done to their exhaust and they know how it sounds because i would like to be reassured that this will sound halfway decent. I dont want to get my car back and be completely upset with the sound. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the reply... Yeah, i am hoping the hookers are going to make it sound a bit louder than usual. I shouldve just gone for full exhaust, but i didnt have the money after spending so much on everything else. I think i might have to dig deep to get enough for a new mass airflow sensor. I dont know though. Thanks!

I take it you have no emission testing in your area. LOL

Haha, not for another 3 years Mech. When we do, it is going to be a whole new can of worms. But i believe i will take my chances until then.

hey guys, my cats are burned up on my vette and it sounds great, but it won't pass insp. without help. i think it running rich because of the cats not taking some of the heat off of 02 sensors. if i'm right its giving the 02 sen. a very hot reading making the comp. think the fuel is lean. let me know how yours works out.
