Default Cooling

Hi everyone,

Recently I saw a C4 that had a vent on it in place of the front license plate panel that usually says corvette. It looked like this corvette panel was taken out and replaced with one that had holes or vents in it for cooling. Do these things really lower your coolant temp by letting more air in or are they of little use? I guess my question is has anyone ever used one of these and do they work? I just thought it might help a little in the summer out here in So Cal. It gets mighty hot and the more air circulation, the better. thanks. Oh yeah, and where can I find one?

If im thinking of the same thing you are talking about, that is Ram Air (or Forced Air Induction depending on who makes it). I was thinking about buying it for my car. I dont think it really has any cooling purposes though. I saw the package on Ecklers for i think around $500. Its supposed to add up to around 25 rwhp at i think 65mph. I saw a chart and cant remember where exactly i saw it. I think that could be what you saw.

No, this is just a piece of plastic that goes on the nose of the car in place of the one that's there. All it does is let more air in through the radiator. It goes right where the front license plate goes and you take the old piece out. Right on the bumper there is a piece that says corvette and you take that out. They also sell one with little lights in it to give the car a lamans look. Thanks for the quick reply though. I just saw it on another car when I was coming in to work this morning

Thanks Matt. That is the thing I was talking about and this is one of the many times that I didn't know what I was talking about. Seems to happen quite frequently lately, especially with the wife. I misunderstood the purpose of that product. I thought it was to let more air in for cooling since there is no front grill in a C4. It looks pretty cool. Well, as someone I know once said, "if you don't learn something every day, then you're not paying attention". Thanks again for the replies and the link. Don't know why I couldn't find it on ecklers. I shop that place all the time.
