Default Correct C4 Ride Height

I was wondering if anyone knows what the correct ride hieght at the fender openings front and rear fulor a 90 corvette should be. For some reason my car seems to set higher than other C4s I have parked beside. The previous owner had a steep driveway and I wander if he adjusted the suspension so that it wouldn't scrape. So if anyone coule measure their ride heights on there cars I would appreciate it!

I replaced the front spring in my 86 about 3 months ago becuase the spring was just wore out. I had less than a finger width above the front tire and was dragging everthing. It raised the car up 3- 4 inches or about 4 fingers width. [8D]

So the fiberglass spring will begin to sag with some age? I am just wondering if mine have been replaced, because there is more than four fingers width in the frontof my car, and more than that in the back. My car had unusually never drags on anything. I can remember that myfamilys 88' model would drag very easily

Corvette spec book shows the following for a 90:
Rocker panel front to ground 6.9". Rocker panel rear to ground 6.9". Cowl point to ground 33.4". Front bumper toground 4.9". Rear bumper to groound 13.0". Bumper to ground (front at curb mass-whatever that's supposed to mean) 5.1". Bumper to ground (rear at curb mass) 13.9". Axle differential to ground 6.8".Minimum running ground clearance 4.7". Location of minimum running running groundclearance:Catalytic converter. Also should have P275/40ZR17 tires. Different size tires may make a difference in tire to top of wheelwelldistance. Nothing inthe book that sayswhat the stockdistance should be, though. Hope this helps.

went out to the garage and measured the height from the floor to the top of the wheelwells on my 93. 27 3/4" front 27 1/2" rear. The rear spring was replaced last year. Don't know about the front as I got the car in 2005 and don't know if it was ever replaced.

I just went an measured and sure enough my car is setting a bit high. Only about a half inch the front, but in the rear, was setting up about an inch and a half. It measure 14 inches at the base of the bumper and almost 8 inches at the base of the back of the rocker panel. It sets high enough at the back that the tires look cambered out a bit at top when it should be the opposite I am sure. What can be done to correct this? Is the rear spring adjustable? Would this height on my car cause it to handle a little worse than it should? I really appreciate the post guys!!!

just measured at the wheel wells and the front was about 27.5 and the rear was about 28.25, so it defenitely is setting high in the rear, was you spring sagging in the rear when you replaced it? If I can adjust it down in the back I am going too, I don't like the way it looks setting up in the back the way it does.

No sag that I noticed. It had a big chip out of the side of it that was found during an oil change and I figured it was best to replace it before the thing broke, which usually happens at the worst time/place. Although I have a coupe I replaced it with a convertible spring, which has a stiffer load rate. Don't know if that raised the back any but I'd have to think it didn't as it measures almost exactly the same front and back and that's with a full tank of gas. As for adjustments, that I can't answer but I will ask around, although I seem to recall suspension shims being soldin some catalogue (Eckler's, corvette america, etc). If that's the case maybe someone put them in yours once upon a time..

Afterthought...You didn't by chance check to see if someone may haveinstalled air shocks (or helper springs on the shocks)? That would raise it up in back, too.

The ride height is slightly adjustable by the spring bolts that hang down in the back. Tightening them will lower the car, but you will need to have a 4 wheel alignment done when you get it were you want it as it will change the camber settings on the rear. [8D]
