Default distributor replacement

How in the heck do I get the balancer off once I remove the bolts from the hub? Is there a special tool tool for balancer removal or should I be able to just remove it?
The way I see it in the sevice manual chapter 3 page 3-37....they are seperate.

Help

Mitch

I'm kinda' curious about distributor replacement...

You gotta' mean opti-spark, cause L98 is on the back of the block there.

Welcome into the boards there, itch

Most harmonic balancers are removed with a puller made just for that job. You can go to Autozone and for a small deposit you can borrow one if you don't want to buy one. Good luck with it, Cheers

Oh yeah....Welcome to the boards.

I should have noted it is a 1995 corvette with a "P" engine. Way different from any balancer I have ever removed in the past. Usually you just remove the balancer bolts..........hook up the crowsfoot remover and pull the balancer off. with this one you have a hub and a balancer. the two come apart. I just want the balancer off to remove the distributor and replace it with a new one.

When I did mine earlier this year I used about 3 feet of axe handle, slid up from the rear on both sides of the oil pan. Tap, tap, tap. A little on each side and Viola! This was not my idea, got it off a Corvette furum. Just don't use anything metal, and be gentle, remember she IS a lady.
