Default Engine Cleaning

As you can see in my previous posting, I am in the process of getting to the problem of fading lights issues. As I was pulling the altenator to run a test on it (thank god my kid works in a auto part store, he says we are bonding), I looked and wondered can and how should I clean the engine? My thoughts are to steam clean it isolating the computer etc. Any thoughts or ideas? By the time spring comes I should have touched or taken most everything apart on this car (atleast that's what my other half tells me). Is this called Vet bonding? Thanks for your input.

Default RE: Engine Cleaning

I've been afraid to do that to my 85. i have been told by some that those engine cleaning sprays are corrosive to wires and plastic. Don't know for sure. I used to use those products on other vehicles but something tells me not to on my vette. So, if any others have anything to say about this, I am also listening. By the way, bagpipe, I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to help me with such things. She is a wee 8 months old so I have a lot of waiting to do.
