Default fuel guage stuck on full

Hello everyone. My gas gage on my 94 seems to be sticking on full. the first time it stuck til about 1/2 a tank, now it may be stuck for good. it dropped down 1 bar, with the range dropping with it, and went back to full with the range corresponding to full as well. I know that with an analog gage wihout a fuel monitor system you have to replace the pump assy. Is that pretty much how mine operates or is there a sensor or something, or can it be related to the pcm? any advice would be appreciated as always

Stuck on full on the time indicates an open circuit on the variable resistor, whether it be ground problem, bad sender or voltage sense wire to the sender. It is easy enough to pull sender out and check with a VOM for resistance. Should be an even transistion empty to full or vice versa.

Mine stays on full a long time.
When it gets to a little below half it's more like a quarter.
I ran it all the way down one time and from a quarter till empty went pretty fast.
I have a 95 and all my GM's productsgas gauges have been querky to say the least.
The 2005 Trailblazers went out.

Sending unit probably is bad. You can test with an ohm meter. It probably has a bad spot in the variable resistor.
