fuel pump relay
Hi everyone. Was reading this thread and as for the coolant temp sensor(CTS) I just broke mine so I think I can explain how the car runs with a bad CTS. With the car dead cold it will start fine in about 3-5 minutes driving my car, it started missing like I had crossed wires on the plug.Bad miss. I drove 3 miles to get gas filled it up and it had a hard time starting. it felt like the battery was going dead. It started and I drove it home (still missing)and parked it in front of the garage door and turned it off to look it over. I found I had broken the CTS win I changed the belt. I tried to start it and the battery didn't have enough to turn it over and I had to charge it and it started Win it was dead cold again. The CTS comes out the front of the water pump and I must of hit it with the wrench while installing the belt. So I know it is the CTS that is my problem.(one on order) Also it through a code 15 which is CTS on a 92 corvette with a teck1. I saw there was questions on the CTS and thought this my help one way or another.
Good Luck
Ric W.
Edit------------
after completing the CTS replacement I also found
a dead cell in the battery and that is why the car had starting issues. I believe the CTS system would still show the symptoms stated above except the battery drain issue.

thanks Ric, although i just replaced the CTS but didn't help one bit. Thanks for input. I am taking the car to a place nearby called "Corvette Corner" this weekend, i will let ya'll know what happens. I talked to Corvette's of Dallas and he said that it sounded to him as if I needed to replace the fuel pump as well as the strainer for the pump and something else that's connected to them but i can't remember what he called it.
YAAAAAAAYYYY guys i finally fixed it, i had to pay $90 to find out but better than spending my money somewhere else that wasn;t goin to fix the problem. Then i spent $160 on Fuel Pump, Strainer, & Pulsator...which by the way, when i took the assembly out looking at the pump, there was no pulsator on there, instead the last person who screwed with it rigged it by putting a 2' rubber hose connecting where the pulsator was suppose to be. So i installed it all in probably about an hour for removal and installation together. Car starts like a champ now as well as has a better acceleration. I appreciate the help and advice that i have gotten on this forum and i thank you all! Have a great day!

So what was the problem there? Fuel delivery? CTS? $90? For a diagnostic? Did you see how it was done? ALDL link-up? Ya holdin' out on us with the info there[&:]
Yes cwb the newCTS is in while I was working on the front of the motor I put in the CTS, belt 2 top radiator hoses ( I had to drain the cooling system in the old girl to replace the CTS and I still got wet. seems you have to remove the knock censers on the LT1 to get the block drained. I forget to get the throttle body hose so that will be here Monday. anyway I haven't started it yet. I also called on that Transmission line leak. That object on the transmission line is a after market line filter, they suggested I removeit. I was advised it could restrict flow and burn up the transmission. The list gets longer
(its just a Hobey) Did you get enough oil on you doing that transmission filter cwb?
dfwgfx congrats on getting her going, the old girls can drive you nuts![sm=bounceybounce.gif]

Nice mess too. I don't think you could do that much damage, if you were in the bathroom after drainin' a 12 pack, and you held yer thumb over the end!!!
dfwgsx,
Since you mentioned it, what does the pulsator do, besides hook the pump to the line? I'm part way through changing the fuel pump on mine. The thing just has some kind of red rubber or something in it that I guess seals it to the pump and metal line. I am wondering if I should replace it though. I just carefully jammed it together, and can't tell if it will seal or not. Are they supposed to slide toghther pretty easily and then seal by fuel pressure, or do you usually have to work to get them together.Anybody know about this thing?

goat roper, yes inside of the pulsator there are these two little red sealers, well all you do is carefully apply even pressure and that baby will just slip on there. I was told that the pulsator kept pressure or at least contributed to keeping pressure built up in the fuel system. There was also a noticeable horsepower that was returned back to me. I was watching a fuel pressure gauge and the car would just keep turning over and would not actually crank until 30psi. Then after it started i was only pushing approx. 32psi, when i was suppose to be between 35 and 45 they said the closer to 45 the better. All in all it cost me $160 for all 3 parts and they are all AC DELCO.
