Default Fully removable hardtops

I just bought my first Vette. An 88 dark red hard top convertable. Are there many hardtop converts out there, i havent seen many. The car only has 25k miles and was stored most of its life. Should it have a softtop under the hard top?

Actually, its called a Targa top. Some, like mine, have a plexiglass type top that you can see through. Others have a solid top. Both are removeable and store in the back compartment.

I dont think this is a targa top...The back window and everything come off its all one piece connected. Then underneath that is a soft top. This Top could not fit anywhere inside the car.

Corvette Black Book shows option CC2 auxiliary hardtop available on 89-96 models. If yours is an 88 and has one, you have a one of a kind or somebody modified it after market. I saw an 84 that someone made into a convertible for sale up here in Wisconsin. And if it is an auxiliary top, there should be a soft top under there. The way you can tell right away is if it has a hatchback release. If yes, you don't have a convertible and I have a bridge in Brooklyn I will sell you. A picture would be helpful for clarification.

no theres not a hatchback release...it looks like a pic of an 89 i found with a removable hardtop...ithas the flat rear deck like a convert. If itis a mod your sure as heck cant tell it.but the title and vin say its an 88...I dont have any pics on me...but ill post some tonight...It does have the soft top underneath. This car is in mint condition with only 25k miles just got it last night soI still have some playing to do

Greetings and welcome to the forum....congrat's on your purchase.

i have a 90 convertible and have been looking for a removeable hardtop for it. I found an aftermarket source for c4, c5 &c6 models for a hardtop. you might have an after market one?

enjoy your c4

I never saw one either - 'till last week, when I started shopping for another C4...

No, I'm not going for one like it - I favor the 'real' targa's...
