Default From 'ghetto' to landfill...

I got an oil leak.

This IS an oil cooler, right? Factory? Aftermarket? '94 LT1

The leak is while runnin', about a drop every 4-5 seconds, right at the yellow circle. Stops immediately when the motor is off.Just started - hardly any oil on the concrete, and the pan is full.

Is it a junker? How much do you want to haul it away?

What ARE we lookin' at here? I don't know this LT1 like I do the L98...

Thanks.

I think GM did away with the oil coolers on the C4 after the 1991 models. In 1992 they started using Mobil 1 and since it was synthetic oil they no longer put oil coolers on thecars.

What is that thing then? It's a cooler of some sort. And yellow stuff (not anti-freeze)is comin' from between the first and second fins there, where I got the circle...

Transmission cooler perhaps? Although I wouldn't expect a leak from that to contain a yellowish liquid - I'd expect reddish.

What's the liquid smell like?

Does your car have RPO code KC4 (engine oile cooler)?
Do you have RPO code U04 (heavy duty radiator with transmission cooler)?

It's oil alright - fresh from a change. Looks good too, except for bein' OUTSIDE!!! Not sure if it's coming out of this cooling [thing] or not. But I can't tell how it is getting onto it; that is, if it's coming from another spot. And it has to be gettin' blown there, cause there'sabsolutely zerotrail to follow.

Not sure lees, I don't have a spec sheet.... Gonna' have to follow the line again. Stuff tends to disappear as it approaches the block area.[sm=smiley29.gif]

Look under your lid to your console. Should be a list of RPO codes there.

Nonesuch. But I guess there's a motor in there...

Where's the key for build codes? Ya' gotta' google each one?

Gop to www.corvetteactioncenter.com. They have the build codes there someplace. I copied off them. I'd be more than happy to decode yours but I have to go to a meeting as of right now. If no luck I'll do it for you tomorrow as I 'm on vacation and don't have a whole lot to do. Check back later. Good Luck!
