Default Header Bolts

I have an exhaust leak in the header connection on the rear driver’s side gasket. What is the best way to get the bolt out? The bolt head is too close to the header pipe of get a socket over it and I don’t know if a open end wrench will work with out stripping the bole head.

As stated above, allen head bolts are the hot ticket. I use 3/8" x 1" NC stainless bolts w/ 5/16" allen heads. These are plenty long even for quality headers with 3/8" thick flanges. And with a good assortment of various 5/16" allen drive bits and standard 90* allen wrenches, no bolt should give you much grief. I use both SW and DRM long tubes and neither take much time to R&R.

Excellent idea re: the allen head bolts.

But, since we ain't there yet, I guess we gotta' worry about the one in there now ...

Put a 12 point box wrench over it. If you ain't got one, go buy one. You don't want to strip it.
