Default HEAT BARRIER

New to the hobby. Bought 86 coupe. Do I put the heat barrier down and cover with the fractory insulation before the mass back carpet or leave out the old insulation ?

As a tip I was told that a product called Thermwell is just as effective if not more so at heat and sound insulation. Pretty much the same material except you get it at HomeDepot for water heaters.

I read those articles prior to beggining the tear down, the issue of the old insulation is really skipped over. The book "101 Projects" states that the transmission insulation should not be removed but no other information elsewhere.

another product that works peachy is 'Reflectix'. It's for ducting in houses. I bought mine at Home Depot and it's back in the , wait for it, insulation department.
