my '88 coupe seems to have plenty of power up to a certain point. I tried to see what top speed was. this is not something i plan to do all the time . i was just curios. it was 109. that seems quite low to me. is there a limiter built into the computer?

 

I have no clue about the 88's but i know that ive had my car up to 150(at least thats what the speedo said) and it was stock. then again it is a 94...

 

hey, the 88 vette had about 255 hp for the coupe,[245hp for the conv.] if i'm right. the conv. hp was lower because the exhaust path. 109 mph is not the topspeed of that car. it sounds like its time for a tune-up.

Yeh, I'm pretty sure there's no speed governor on these beasts.... it's gotta be something in either the ignition or the fuel... that'd be my guess.

 

if you floor it, what does it shift at in first?? assuming its an auto

When you say it tops out at 109, how many rpm's are you pushing at that point? My '87 work in progress will do 2100 rpms at 120mph with a TON of pedal left. I run out of freeway, I mean track, before I run out of engine[8D]
