Default Lube

Hey guys! I have a 89 vette and was wondering what to use to lube the hydrolic arms for the hatch? I know it has the defogger wires running trough it so I didn't want to do something wrong.

THANKS!

You don't lube them. They are gas charged shocks and any lube will make the seals leak and you will loose the gas charge, if not already. Does the hatch open on its own or do you have to help it?[8D]

Ya bro
don't lube those things, you'll just have to buy new ones when they wear out.

Yep
you need some new ones sorry to say. Like Mech259 said they are gas charged, really no service you can do to them.

I agree my brother

Using a lube on them also attracks dust which aides in the destruction of the seals[8D]

Sounds like they are already shot. Go ahead and replace them.

Good luck and keep the wave alive!
