Default miss

Iam not having as bad a day as 93 vette is having but I am hving an issue I would love some advice on. I just got my vette a couple of weeks ago, and have just done brakes and routine fluid maint. on it. The other day I opened her up just to see what she would do, what a rush!! but after I decelerated and hit the gas again she started to miss. No codes, so I figured carbon under a plug or floated a lifter maybe. Since then I have been just driving it like the old man that I am, and no problem. Today a friend of mine wanted me to hit the gas from a dead stop and when I did it just sputtered and missed, finally picked up and took off. One the way home if I gave it moderate accel it would miss and downshift and do ok. If i gave it alot of gas it seemed ok. it seems to do better cold than hot. it has 110K on it- I haven't pulled a plug yet, but the insulators on the plugs look burned and the wires look oe. If the opti starts to go won't I get a code? And under what kind of loads does it misbehave? She idles great and no miss at all at hwy speeds, Ideas?

Even if its not the plugs and wires, Id still change them along with a good tune up...

Ok sounds like a plan- what constitutes a tune up on this engine?

I put this in a couple of other posts, but if it is at high RPM and/or load that it acts up, replace the coil wire and see if that is all you need.

Your miss is typical of a plug or a wire breaking down under high load conditions. That would be the place to start, after that, then cap and rotor. [8D]

I think a tune up should go as far as you can

Replace:

Air filter
Oil
Oil filter
EGR
Rotor button
Distributor cap
Coil
Flush out the radiator
Replace both radiator hoses
New radiator cap
Serpentine Belt
Battery
Plugs
Wires
Tire roation**If applicaple**
Check Tire pressure
Refill washer fluid
Windshield Wiper Blades
Change transmission fluid gasket and filter
Change differential fluid
Clean up the front of the radiator of any garbage
I would change out the thermostat but thats just me
Clean out the throttle body really well.......Dont use carberator spray it will take off the coating inside of it. Its too rough!!!
Give the car a good wax job.
If shocks need to be replaced then replace those
If headlights need to be replaced you can go ahead for them...They are fairly cheap
Run a bottle of sea-foam thru it...Just a thought

Basically just check over everything else too. This is just MY** definition of a full tune up but others may think different which is perfectly fine as they are entitled to there opinion as well.

Goodluck! I think this should help your car run a little better also

One more thing: Try to run premium gas. Also a fuel injector cleaner that might help is **Chevron-Techron**Fuel System Cleaner** I dont think cleaners like that are reccomended for our injectors though....
