My 89 starting issues
Before I have my 89 vette put on a flatbed and taken to the repair shop I wanted to get some opinions as to what my problem might be. A few weeks ago I started having problems with my vette not starting after it was warmed up and driven. I could drive it for 10 minutes or an hour, shut it off and try to start it 15 minutes later with a 50/50 chance of it starting. If I would wait 30 -45 minutes it would start right up and run fine. It might be fine for a few days and then it would happen again.Because of the weather around here and vacation I haven't driven it for about a week. Now it will start and run for about 5 seconds and shut down. I can do this several times and then it won't start at all. I have tried starting over several days hoping to get it started and drive it to my repair shop to avoid putting it on a flatbed but it doesn't appear that will happen. I read some posts and tried replacing the fuel pump relay but that made no difference. The fuel pump was replaced 4 years/20,000 miles ago for a similar problem and it has been fine until now. I hate to think that the fuel pump is bad again. Any ideas before I have it hauled to the shop? I hate to think that I have to plan on replacing the fuel pump every 4 years.
Thanks for you responses,
Eric
