Default Need Help

Hi All

This is the first time for me on this forum, so please be patiant with me. I have just purchased a 1988 C4. To you guys i know this is not a big deal, However in Australia a C4 is a rare car as our laws do not allow USA Imports anymore unless they are 30 years or older or under 5 years from the current year. My car is a California car and has been converted to right hand drive for Australia, the purchase price $ 26,000 AUD. The history of the car is patchy and i am only just getting details of the engine upgrade together. I area i need assistance on is the ECU. I need to understand what is the Chip I require to cater for the following as the car currently has the standard chip and tuning has not been performed since the upgrade. The following is what I have records of currently

1. L98 ( TPI )
2.Turbo 700 Auto Trans ( Reconditioned ) However standard parts replaced.
3. Crane Cam Powermax 2032
4. Spotsman 400 Semi flat top Pistons @ 409 Cubic Inch with a bore 4.165 or 40 Thou
5. Modifies Heads and inlet manifolds
6. Custom ceramic coated headers and full stainless exhaust
7. Increased injectors
8. Variable fuel pressure regulator
9. Aprox output 380 - 400 HP

Issue is that the Chip is standard and so is the fuel pump. Please advise me as knowledge in Australia is low with the Vetts and tuning, the car runs fine, however lumpy and i suspect the dyno will reveal fuel starvation. I suspect i will need a piggy back chip or at least a reprogrammable chip. I have not looked into this from a retail perspective due to the time variations between our countries, so as i mentioned earlier please be kind with you responses. I need your help with suitable brands and prices ( USA ) to assist. I look forward to your responses. Thank You.

if it has a aftermarket cam, depending on lift and duration it my be lumpy. if the car runs fine then ther is no problem.

I would say you definately need a tune. those are some pretty major mods. If you can find a dyno shop in your area, that would be good. also check out pcmforless.com
you can send in your ECM or if you have the right software and connections, they can send you the data and you can upload it into your prom.

Alvin is extremely experienced with our c4 cars. just list all the mods that you have on your car, and they will determine the proper tune. And they will ensure that you are satified.

If I am not mistaken, the custom tune will have to be burned into a prom for your car as the 88's have a computer that has a prom, not an Eprom that can be changed electronically. Good luck. [8D]

thats probably correct. maybe it was only the OBDII that can be done electronically. but at any rate, you can definately send the ecm in to pcmforless. that would be the best way to get an accurate tune.
