need key cut

Default need key cut

just got my 95 vette a week ago, it only came with one set of keys, is it hard to get new keys made ?? what do i have to do??

Mine has a chip in the key that measures resistance specific to the ignition if I remember correctly. You have to take the key somewhere they can measure the resistance and match the copied key to the original. I took mine to the dealer and it cost me $24.00 ( I think). Good luck....

You should be able to go to your Chevrolet dealership and let them get the VIN# off your car and they can not only get teh proper key but cut it too.

Default thanks guys

went to dealer got 2 keys cost me $52, they just needed vin # and sent out for the keys got them 2 days later, cut them when I picked them up

Most automotive locksmiths can do the same for a little cheaper.

My locksmith does them for 15 bucks ! He says thats expensive.

He takes Ohm meter and measures resistance [ 14 different values ] puts in little chip cuts key all in 5 minutes.
