Hi all you guys, newby here.

Have a 1983 C4 LT1 Vette.
Have had some problems with overheating in this toy, have review as far as I can imagine may be wrong, even new 160F thermostat, new wather pump, have clean the radiator inside and outside and eventually Vette gets Hot.
Any ideas or info related this vehicle-issue?
Any idea where to search for?

Also would like to know cheap mods that really rocks for this LT1 in order to get some extra HP.
What would be the realistic maximum streeteable HP's to get from this unit?

Hey Bud, are you sure about the year. Different things for C-3's viceC-4's can cause overheating.

160 therm?, I suggest you go to a 180. The water needs to stay in the engine longer in order to pick up the heat. The temp rating of a therm only tells you at what temp the system will open up, not the tempat whichyour engine will run.

What kind of temps are you seeing? You may be running normal temps but these cars run a lot warmer than most.
I run a 160 degree temp but my car doesn't get any cooler.Iwas advised to install it when I put in a worthless Hypertech chip.A 160 degree stat will not make any LT1 run cooler. It only causes the thermostat to stay wide open all the time once thecoolant reaches 160 degrees. Which doesn't take long regardless of weather conditions.

How did you get the one and only 1983 Corvette in the world off the display floor at the NCM and drop an LT1 in it without anyone noticing.
