Well, there is no "one and done" with computer systems. You can get a decent code reader under 50.00. Or you may be able to rent one from your local parts store. It's really the best way to go.

Welcome to the forums. Heard of a guy awhile back with the same issue with the ASR light on his 94 not sure if yours is the same. His problem was back by the left rear wheel with a bad power wire to the ASR ABS system. The throttle may have a bad cable, or the throttle pedal may be hanging up or both.

Just ordered the factory shop manuals, not too familiar with code tracing, kind of old school, (my other Vette is a 63 SW), thanks.
this is actually the 1st issue I had with the 96, thanks.

It might be easier to learn French than trying to figure out shop manuals.

Welcome to the forum. Most auto parts stores will read your codes for free.

Default ASR issue, throttle in-op

Got the manual, you're right, very hard to follow. My problem is the car has no throttle response, only idle, ASR throttle cable not broken but not advancing throttle body linkage so can't drive it. Tried everything, going to tow it to Eismann Corvette Jupiter FL on Wed. Unless anyone has come across this issue.
