I'm thinking of installing a set of non smog headers on my car. my question is what do you do with the egr? does the computer care if it is blocked off or removed. the headers do have the bung for the oxygen sensor but that is all. thanks for the help.

 

you can remove it and block off the hole and the vacuum tube.Might as well pull the air pump at the same time-ecklers has an idle pulley kit.You can dump the cats if you want.All my smog stuff is removed and the computer runs a closed loop.code 13 I believe.Service engine light is always on,theres probably a way to turn it off but I haven't bothered.

 

Your car will be loud as **** without cats. Add the headers and some muffler elimanators and wow! You can have the code removed from your chip by a custom tuner. Removing the A.I.R. will not give any noticable horsepower but it does clean up the engine bay and will save some weight. Might give 1-3 horsepower but I doubt it.

 

Nonsense,there was hardly any noticable noise increase with the cats removed.There should be a large central silencer behind the cats and then a pair at the ends.If you pull the cats have your local shop put in a cross pipe when they repipe the system,it will stop resonance and improve flow.

 

Not nonsense. I am running straight manifolds at the moment. Very loud. NO cats and no reasanator!
