Default Ok.......this is freaking wack!

I just went out and like my brakes went out. My dad says its a sensor or something. They pushed back up so hard and then they died back down. My dad moved the pedal a little and now they work. The abs light is on ALL the time but I didnt think much of it. I mean its been on for like three months and the brakes have been fine....Also the brake lights will NOT go out....even when the cars cut off.....What is up with this?

I forgot to add. Replaced the master cylinder brake booster and front right caliper....Replaced the fluid also no leaks and the cylinder is full at the line!

Two years ago I had the same thing happen to my 87 Vette. I was told that a "sensor" had been disconnected, and rusted out,on the right front wheelABS connection; a new one was installed, the ABS light went out and no trouble since. How close am I, MECH259, on trying to explain this one?

The ABS module on an 86 has no diagnostic capability. Do like I did on mine, unplug the module, pull the 2 relays and away I go, no light or anything. You already have no ABS when the light is on, so this just eliminates the light. If you still have a hard pedal, then most likely the brake booster is bad if you have no vacuum leaks.

You can't take the valve out because all the hydraulics are piped through it.

Ok i think i need to re-explain this. I pushed on the pedal it was pushing up hard but was going down. NO VACUM SOUND! it was like the calipers werent gripping. I had 0000 brakes. Would my problem make the brakes go completly out.
