Well, my dad has alot of common sense and he has done a damn good job raising his family and supporting them and he would NEVER jeopardize his familys saftey. This was just a all of a sudden thing. We have had it at the brake place and they replaced pads rotors and the front caliper because the pistion in it went out. The ABS light stumped them but they were a jiffy lube shop....So...now its at a expert. Ill see what he says. We **me and my dad** replaced the brake booster and master cylinder and flushed the brake system.

I concur. Sounds like a bad pbvacuum booster to me. By the way, thanks to whoever(s) set this website up. VERY USER FRIENDLY, especially to a computer dummy like me.

Not cool. He just called about 5 minutes ago and told my dad that he wanted to replace all the rotors, all the brake pads, AND the master cylinder.....of course new fluid to. Guess how much money......1200 DOLLARS!!! for some rotors pads and a cylinder. He said the master cylinder went kaputt. Do yall think hes right? Hes very well known here. Been in busness for 25 years. Hes the owner and only mechanic there and he takes his time. I dont think hed lie intentionally....Just expensive though but he is the best in town from what I understand......So what do you guys think?

Grab the keys and take it to an honest shop. Unless he is putting a C5 brake upgrade kit in you car he is definately ripping you off. If I were you I would buy all the parts and have someone else install it. You can buy a rotor and brake pad kit (AC Delco) from ebay for only $330 the Master cylinder (AC Delco) is only $130.00. Not only will it be cheaper but you will be assured that the parts being put on your car are new. If you would rather have a shop handle everything I recommend Brake Masters they do a great job and their prices are fair. I don't know if they have any shops in your area though. Just my .02

Hey guy I wasn't having a go at you it's just that brakes are the most important thing on a car,It could be me or one of mine coming the other way.If you don't know what your doing please don't mess and that applies to jiffy lube and all.I'm sure their insurance doesn't cover them for brake jobs.
FYI. Midas had an offer here in Florida a while back,$19,95 for front or rear pads.I do all my own work but at that price it wasn't worth getting out the jack so I took it to them. When I went to pick it up it was still in the air wheel less and they gave me an estimate to fix it.New rotors(too thin to cut),new brake lines(perished rubber),seized calipers and worn out pads-$1,245.87!!!!!
On my way home i stopped at NAPA to pick up some pads and priced the other stuff. Rotors$44.00-set of lines $38,calipers front $68,rear $27, pads were $ 48.(good ones)Thats retail ,not what they can buy them for and I can change everything out in about 2 hours .When I was you age probably half of that.
The rotors mic'ed up fine and healthy, hoses healthy, calipers smooth no leaks-pads ****ed.
Just to be an ******* I took it to another midas after I fixed it and they only said the rotors were bad but they were really worried about the ABS.
I'm from the UK and you can get screwed over there as well if your not careful but I don't believe the way that everyone in the car industry here tries to shaft you. These poor little old ladies, anyone in fact that has no clue is going to be chewed up and spat out.
That's enough,I'm off-I leave you with one thought. How likely is it that everything in any system you can imagine fails at the same time???
