Default Polishing Those Dull C4 Wheels

So the wheels on my '86 C4 are still in excellent shape - but rather dull. How does one turn them into Polished Aluminum? Special chemicals needed to remove the clear coat? Anyone have any experience in doing this?

Mine were dull and cloudy as well as a few curb rashes. I sent mine out to be recondition like new. Came out mint, at a cost of $150 each though.

Well, $600 for refinishing is not for me - I'd spend a little more and just go with new. I once had some Porsche wheels refinished. The guy did a good job - but ripped me off. He switched one of the wheels for a cracked one he had and then called and said mine was cracked. I had no choice but to have him fix it. I later found pictures of my wheels and on close examination, I found no cracks at all. I promptly stopped payment on the $750 check. He never got a dime out of me and I filed a complaint with the local police department.

Yeah, you can find the much nicer looking Z06 wheels on ebay for a bit more expensive, or even sometimes a bit cheaper than getting the stock ones refinished. Or if you would like to keep the stock look, i am POSITIVE you can find the stock rims for cheaper than the refinished price on Ebay or maybe a few other sites. Good Luck!

I just took some Goof Off and a rag and the cloudiness cleaned up rather nicely. I'm amazed at the difference. I then rubbed some WD-40 on them. I then repainted the lug nut caps in gloss black. Wheels lookin' good. For all you C4'ers with stock rims, try it.
