I found some info and put it together with my opinions and points of view. This is just a basis/fun post for me. I peronsally am trying to follow this plan to the best my budget and my parents cash flow for me is. Once I graduate from school this year and get going in a good job then this will be more in depth. Now this is just a overview of the basics of modding.
Your exaust. You may think this is where gas shoots out of. Exaust is very important. Yes carbon monoxide does come out of it. DUH!!! But why does it give our car more power??? Because of back pressure. Too much back pressure basically clogs up your car. When the gases come out of the pistions and comes out of the manifolds out of the tubing thru the back of your car. The faster you get the gases out, the faster gasoline and air mix which in turn creates HORSEPOWER. Doing exaust mods doesnt GIVE you horespower out of air. Your car NATURALLY makes it, its just being restricted. Now if your a good person and have the money get a free flowing catalytic converter and do nature a favor. Me personally, I would but I cant at the moment so I gutted my cats. They were so bad it didnt make a difference to the polloution. Now some GOOD MODS FOR EXAUST ARE: HOOKER COMP HEADERS, BORLA MUFFLERS, TRUE DUAL, FREE FLOWING CATS, CUSTOM Y PIPE. This will RETURN your power lost thru your stock system. Do you ever wonder why our exaust systems are the eway they are? Whey are they restrictive? Because, basically it comes down to the average driver. The average driver say a middle aged female with young kids, DOES NOT want a blaring exaust, high powered engine and tire screeching coming from her car everytime she takes off. Quiet, smooth riding. Thats why most cars are not as powerful or modded like we do with them to our preference. But IMO, if they were already modded, what would be the point of having it. I like making my car powerful and KNOWING I made it that way.
Intake: Modify your air cleaner housing. Basically its where a "shield is installed in your airbox which shoves more air in there. Cut lid, K&N, Descreened MAF, Heat sink fins removed from MAF, Mat sensor relocated to air filter housing, Air Foil, Throttle body coolant Bypass, Ported plenum, adjustable fuel regulator, 190 L-98 heads, larger runners, 58 mm throttle body**KEEP IT CLEAN**, Ford SVO injectors,
Block: Bored/stroked, forged crank/rods, roller rockers,
Suspension: Blistein shox, bushings, Springs, Cross-bar,
Brakes: C5 Brake upgrade, Rear Goodyear Slix New master cylinder, New brake booster, Black hawk pads, Stainless steel brake lines, Dot 4 high boiling point fluid,
Differential: 3.07 gears, Dana 44, rebuild tranny, U-Joints, Stage 2 racing clutch for manuals, B&M Short Throw Shifter, Clutch Block
With this you should have a pretty quick car. Id say a 12 second L-98. Now if you want to get it charged bored out 60 over NOS......ect ect ect.......Then your talkn major cash and bigger upgrades. To handle all this power you gotta stay on top of things and you cant try to go cheap. Nothing right is cheap and nothing cheap is right....Listen to that saying....It will save your *** down the road.
