power antenna doesnt work
Ive just recently obtained my first corvette. Its a 95 coupe.Ive waited a long time for this,And so farits been worth the wait.It does have a few bugs in it though. It has a Delco am /fm cassette(not bose) radio in it.There is very little sound from the front speakers, just some tinny music sounds. The power antenna doesnt go up or down.Checked the fuses ,all check OK.Checked to see if antenna was plugged in ,it is.Checked for power at the plug in read 12 v.Where is the relay located at?Could the speaker problem and antenna trouble be related?Any Ideas? Im stumped.
Welcome guy I'm sure you will get the advice you need here. There are several true mechanics who inhabit this site. You can use serch to find threads simular to yours along with tech stuff. I have two 95 coupes Red , White and next year I hope blue!
Well maybe not you never know about me.
I do know when you convert to aftermarket radios there is several things that cause problems with the old bose stuff.
A. Special harness to adapt the power Ant.
b. You have to use a couple of resistors to stop the new radio from causing the service eng. light from coming on.
c. The Boise speakers also work on a signal using the supplied amplifiers on each speaker.
I have seen tech on the resistors before and the power ant. harness adaptor might be avalable from Dr. Don's or maybe one of the supplier/sponsors of this site.
I have an aftermarket radio in the Hot Rod that just happens to be a corvette and the ant. does not work either so I will be following your thread as it will be a future project.
Right now it's in the shop getting a profesional dyno tune up cause the LT 4 450 horse 383 had a ProCharger on it for 550 HP but It's off now and getting the F.A.S.T. computer to tone down the juce to the 42.5 lb injectors became nessessary. I love SFE, EFI but even with the software I'm technologically challenged.
I'm still a happy camper to have a Hot Rod that just happens to be a nice clean Vette.
No decals or racing stripes but the rear American Torque Thrust wheels have 12 in. Drag Radials which it will light up [without the tune].
Yep being an adict is great if it's a car habit . Lets see Marina Blue or mabe a lighter shade.
Oh yeah Midnight Blue that works.

The radio provides a ground signal to the antenna relay that raises the antenna. When the ground signal goes away (radio off), the antenna lowers, basically. More than likely the antenna motor might be history.

Just noticed you are from Lumberton Tx. I go up that way and cut over to I 45 when going from Baton Rouge to D/FW. I've seen a moldy looking C3 out by the hwy for a long time.
Come to think of its been a while.
Lovely drive though.

Every May of each year I bring my 87 Corvette Con't out of storage for the Summer months, and each year the power antenna refuses to go up and down. The motor is working, but no action from the antenna. I spray a quantity of WD 40 down the top of the antenna "hole" and leave it overnight to penetrate. The next morning, each year, I activate the antenna and it has worked each Spring thereafter for the past 10 years. My Vette is stored in an unheated garage each September and brought out in May, of each year. Try WD 40; I'm sure it will help you with this problem. The key is, you have to hear the motor for this to work. Good luck..
